Globally - plant-based, sustainable foods are the future of
food for dogs.

Virchew is a different kind of dog food company, because it’s not a dog food company at all. It’s an exciting canine 'nutrition' brand for dogs rooted in dietary solutions to support our veterinary partnerships and people who are eagerly seeking transparent answers for their dog's health. We're deeply dedicated to innovating new, sustainable, healthier solutions to feed and care for our furry best pals.

When it came time to building an investor program, we wanted to do that differently, too. Instead of solely depending on venture funds or accredited investors to raise capital, we wanted to give people with passion for the very same things and who share the same virtues an opportunity to be a part of this revolution. So we exercised our Canadian financial securities prospectus and over 75+ shareholders joined the vision.

Over the next decade the animal-based dog food industry is going to be entirely disrupted by innovative plant-based foods and sustainable protein companies. This in turn will impact the veterinary care industry. The Virchew team has worked diligently on the development plan, and we're now strongly positioned to serve both industries.

*Update - Summer/Fall 2023: We're preparing for our next capital round to support market expansion that will be open to accredited investors, only. If you want to learn more, register your name below. We look forward to hearing from you!

Virchew Included in Game Changers Report Celebrating Canada’s Female-Led Natural and Bio-Based Companies

Natural Products Canada releases first female-focused report for International Women’s Day

(March 8, 2023 – Vancouver, British Columbia) - Virchew is thrilled to announce their inclusion in Game Changers: Leading Companies. Powered by Women, an initiative led by Natural Products Canada (NPC). This new list of over 100 companies provides an interesting look at the women leading Canada’s growing natural and bio-based industries. Virchew is creating a powerful new paradigm in canine nutrition for humanity’s best friend. Supported by trailblazing veterinary nutrition programs, Virchew serves up the first plant-based meals and treats for dogs.

Not a typical kibble company, Virchew has created innovative, 100% plant-based food using raw or lightly processed Canadian and North American non-GMO ingredients. Their unique dry foods do not require typical extruding or cooking methods, therefore using a fraction of the energy that most production methods require, and they ship directly from their production facility to customers' doors across Canada.

Founder Laura Simonson shares: “We are the first woman-owned plant-based brand for dogs supported by groundbreaking veterinary nutrition programs that focus on dietary solutions for common health issues in dogs. Our direct-to-consumer and vertical business model, unique foods, and timely entry into a fast-expanding marketplace have seen our customer base triple, and promising sales growth in 2022. We are excited to expand to international distribution by 2024.”

NPC is a national organization that supports bio-based innovation, and this first of its kind Game Changers report showcases the breadth of female leadership in Canadian companies that are creating economic and social impact through their natural and bio-based products. The report features companies from across the country with products designed for consumers seeking new options for their health and wellness such as food, beauty and personal care items, as well as industrial products such as bio resins and biopesticides that help corporations looking to reduce their carbon footprint and meet their sustainability goals.

“Canadians should be proud of these innovative companies that are delivering better, healthier options for people and the planet,” says Shelley King, CEO, Natural Products Canada. “The women leading these companies are truly making a difference, and we are very proud to provide this platform to introduce them to new customers and partners.”

a re-bark-able number of reasons to invest.

We’re on to something here. There’s a plant-based, sustainable food evolution happening for people in a very big way. We’re on the forefront and leading the charge of that same evolution for dogs. And, the future looks bright. Like tail-wagging, got-the-zoomies kinda bright.

Climate crises and sustainability are fueling the plant-based and alternative protein ingredients market which is projected to reach $13 trillion by 2025.

Veterinarians want more solutions to food sensitivities. Plant-based and hypoallergenic (non-kibble) options are proving to be the answer to care for their patients.

The markets we play in are expanding.

  • There are 400,000+ dogs in just a 25-mile radius of our headquarters. Informed pet parents are seeking healthy, sustainable alternatives.
  • There are approximately 15,322 veterinarians and 3,825 veterinary practices in Canada which are the key to our B2B veterinary partnerships, direct business model and imminent growth in Canada, alone.
  • There are 90 million dogs in North America and the vegan dog food market is estimated to reach USD $31.48 Billion by 2029.
  • The opportunity to feed our dogs well, create a new veterinary nutrition model and support a healthy planet - is impossibly big. We’d love for you to be a part of it.
  • We're launching a new Capital Round soon. Register your name to fetch more information.
